    Hi,
I've been seeing that people have a GAI included in their WISCIV reports, and for whatever reason we don't seem to have one. I looked it up and tried to figure it out but am uncertain that I did it correctly. Could someone please check me on this?

    His scores are:
Verbal Comp- 140 (Standard Score), 99.6%
Perceptual Reasoning- 139 (Standard Score), 99.5%
Working Memory- 110 (Standard Score), 75%
Processing Speed- 106 (Standard Score), 66%
Full Scale- 134 (Standard Score), 99%

    and the breakdown is:
    Verbal Comp-

    Similarities- 16
    Vocab- 17
    Comprehension- 17

    Perceptual Reasoning-

    Block Design- 16
    Picture Concepts- 17
    Matrix Reasoning- 16

    Working Memory-

    Digit Span- 12
    Leter-Number Sequencing- 12

    Processing Speed-

    Coding- 11
    Symbol Search- 11

He was 6yr9mo when he took it, and there was a 95% confidence interval.

I came up with a GAI of 148 and that doesn't seem right to me... how can it be higher than the other scores? I'm sure I flubbed it somehow, but don't know where. blush I'd appreciate it if someone could help!
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you, thank you, Thank You, Dottie!
(For this and the reply to the Terranova question)
I had a lightbulb moment when I read your explanation... makes more sense now.
I agree with you about the insanity of 11.6. When I saw it, I thought that it really was some kind of error... not that I don't have faith in my kid, but I've got a fair grasp of where he's at mathmatically and unless they have really, REALLY low expectations for HS Juniors then something didn't add up.
I was told that at the beginning of next school year we'd have a teacher meeting. I know I want to have him tested further (he likes tests, so no stress there), but don't know what ones to ask for. While I like the people at his school on a personal level, I don't have much faith in their knowledge or preparedness for helping DS and others like him.
Can you recommend something in particular that I should ask for?
    Any advice is truly appreciated...
and by way of post-script, Thanks from all of us who read your posts. You do a wonderful job of shining light in all of those dark places that all of us questing parents are trying to see into!

    Hi Dottie,
When you said "achievement data" did you mean other than the Terranova?

Are these tests generally given every year, or every other? I seem to remember every other back in the day, but that was also another state, and another district (not to mention several decades ago!) And is it the usual that the school does these?
Thanks for giving a jumping off point, Dottie. I've got to beard the new Principal in his lair on Monday anyway, might as well let him know what he'll be in for next year from us! whistle

That seems so sad to me. I imagine they would be suprised at how many students have mastered the skills they keep repeating. I see lots of kids in the classroom zipping through the work...

    Hello,

I also need help to assure that my child's GAI is correct.

Her Verbal Comprehension Scores were: 14, 16 and 15 on the 3 normal tests.

Her Perceptual Reasoning Scorese were: 14, 11 and 15 on the three normal.

Psychologist after 2nd request gave her a GAI 123 total, but it adds up to a raw 85, which would be 129 on the WISC-IV scales that I found on-line

Who is correct and why? Many, many thanks!!!

I also get a 129 when I check it against the WISC-IV Technical report 4.
