My DDs' school is using the MAP for the first time next month. I know it's an adaptive test, but does anyone know how broad the range of questions are? DD10 has rather uneven math skills (for example, she has no problem figuring out the volume of a cone but struggles with the area of a triangle). I'm worried that the test results may not reflect her abilities because she won't get to all the questions she can do.

I think that this is one of those times when a bit of mild hothousing can go a long way. Aleks.com comes to mind....

It's very possible that the MAP will take a long long long time trying to figure out 'where' she is, when she is just very ansynchronous. No test is perfect, afterall.

Do you know what use the school will try and make of the test?

Read over the test website -

and call them directly if you have any questions.

    Good luck!
