How long are clinical psychologist/registered test administrators mandated to keep the test results? We had our son take an IQ test and recieved the result. We had an accident have lost the original result.

I would imagine that would be regulated state-by-state, though they may be national guidelines. Have you contacted the tester yet?

Yes and the tester said they dont have the record - which is weird so wanted to know if there is any mandate on how long these records have to be maintained. My child took the test 2 and half years back

That does seem really weird...2.5 years isn't that long. Do you have a friend who is a lawyer who could look into it? Sometimes a letter on 'letterhead' is enough to gain cooperation. Since it's been 2 years, then retesting can be done at anytime. Do you need your son to be retested?

What were you planning to do with the old scores?

What purpose did you want them for?

What a bummer! There maybe someone you can talk to at your state's or national 'association of ----ologists' (insert what type of tester you used. Maybe someone at their office can give you the name and number - hint, hint - over the phone.

I wonder if the office is part of your local better business bureau?

I wish I had a ready answer for you Lisha.

Thanks so much for the help and response Grinity. We have sent the request for the document again to the phsycologists office and also have offered to send a copy we have.
We need to use the records for a private school application which is valid if the test was taken in last 3 years. Preferabbly i dont want to spend the money again on the same test again

If the office doesnt respond then we will take your advice about the lawyer
