    Hello all,
Schools vs housing...yikes! We are considering a less expensive housing neighborhood with not so highly ranked (by test scores) schools. Which leads us to thinking of private schools...
Any advice on the Boston area (within T commuting range) private schools for K thru high school? I know it's a huge metro area, but any thoughts appreciated. Can we even hope to get into a private school for the fall at this point?

Here's a list of private gifted schools in MA:

There's a ton of other private schools in MA; some of which are top in the country. However, I don't know what they're like for gifted children.

I wouldn't be discouraged about applying for a private school for the fall. Try it. People move; jobs change; things come up so you never know if a slot opens. And with the economy, there may be more slots than in previous years.

I enrolled my son mid-year as a pre-k student in two gifted schools, after the first gifted school didn't work out for us. So yes, it is possible. Some of the gifted and private schools have open enrollment.

Have you tried calling Boston University Academy and asking them where which K-8 districts worked well for their students? I'd start there.

    Good luck!

Thank you both for the ideas. All these changes at one time is panic-inducing!
