We live too far from everything to do anything but residential summer programs. Of the Talent Search Summer Programs, most are for older kids (grades 7 and up). Rocky Mountain Talent Search has 1 week program for grades 4-6 and 2 wk program for grades 6-8. Johns Hopkins has 3-wk programs for grades 2-6. My DS 9 is completing 5th grade and says he really wants to do the 3-wk program. I'm nervous about it being a Long time away from home for a young kid. Has anyone had their kid do this? My son went to a 2 wk camp last summer and loved it, so I'd say he's had some previous experience with away camp.
