hi - I am new to this forum & wondering if anyone can tell me where to find online SCAT test prep for a 6th grader. So far, I have come up empty. Also am interested in knowing what correlation there is between Map & Cogat scores (i.e., if the child excelled in these tests, should I expect her to score well enough to get into cty? Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The SCAT test is heavily guarded, in order to ensure that children are not coached. There are sample questions on the CTY site, but if you would like your child to have some understanding of what will be on the test there are many critical thinking, analogies, and math reasoning workbooks out there.

The above website has a great selection of books and cds, and their material is good even if not used for test prep, but just to teach children to reason think critically. The COGAT and the SCAT tests are both reasoning tests, so there should be a high correlation, specially if your child has very high cogat scores.

They say you should not prepare for these tests but if you want to give the kid an idea of analogies for the verbal part , you can buy one or two books from the website below .
