DD7 has a very slight turn out on her right eye, usually only when's she's really tired. We just went through a bunch of testing and I was AMAZED at what she sees versus what she SHOULD have seen. I wanted to toss this out there for y'all to think about too. DD7 told me that she has double vision sometimes when she's reading, but she never said anything because she didn't know it wasn't normal. So the eye doc told me that she asks EVERY patient if they've ever had double vision. Regular screenings don't pick that up.

It affects how my daughter sees math problems, straight lines both horizontal and vertical (basically, she sees gaps in the lines), so it definitely affects her school work and testing.

We're starting vision therapy next week and since her turn is very slight and intermittent, she should have a full success. We'll have some accommodations in the classroom in the meantime. Her eye doc and psych expect her to gain 10-15 points on her next IQ test too, which puts her in the stratosphere. Now we finally understand why she scored 147 FSIQ but has all of the quirks/sensitivities/intensities of the 160s and higher kids!

Something to keep in mind, though, for some of you. Here's a link to more info, and keep in mind that these types of problems are usually only picked up by a developmental optometrist, and not a "regular" eye doctor in the usual exam.
