- Philemon Sturges' version of the Little Red Hen
- Anything by Syd Hoff (Sammy the Seal, Albert the Albatross)
- Anything by Mo Willems (especially "Let's Go for a Drive", "Should I Share my Ice Cream", and "Watch me Throw this Ball"). He finds these hilarious.
