I've been thinking about your post. Did you know the teacher was going to talk about your child in this way? DId you give input? Was this spontaneous or did it come from a book or article?

I think it's probably the best way to approach this kind of situation, but I've never heard of a teacher having a talk like this. I've done it at the kitchen counter with my children, explaining that we are all a work in progress and that some kids are more advanced in social things, and some are less. I've seen the lightbulb come on for my children, once they understood the idea. And they are better able to interact with different types of children, as a result.
