Alright here is the IEP. I don't even have to put it in a "nutshell" cuz it is so sparse as it is!!

Objective 1 -- Mite needs to improve his organizational skills of his desk and materials.

****this one is ok. he can be a messy little bug. we are working on that at home, too.****

Objective 2 -- Mite will increase his writing skills from writing incomplete sentences with gragments and run-on sentences, to writing a paragraph independently, that includes the followin....(perfect para info)

****Ok this one really bugs me, because if Mite is allowed to dictate those paragraphs they are PERFECT!! The problem is not that he is unaware of good paragraph techniques. The problem is he cannot WRITE or sustain the information in working memory long enough to put it on paper. It is a NEUROMOTOR problem, not a knowledge of language arts problem. In fact, his verbal dictation falls at above high school level on one of the evaluations.

The sped teacher plans on taking him out and working on a magnetic white board with magnetic words. That's going to be soooooooooooo irritating for this kid who is sooooooo bright.

Objective 3 -- Mite will proofread and self-correct his information with 80% accuracy on 4 out of 5 data taking days.

****well, I'm all for it if he gets to proofread something he has dictated, but his own handwriting is very difficult to read. THat's the WHOLE point. He cannot physically WRITE.

alright...suggestions comments and even rude remarks (as long as they are directed at the educators:^) are all welcome.
