    Hi Inky,
I do have her report. There is a 25-point discrepancy between VCI and PRI. And so much variation in the PRI that it's not a unitary index.

Not trying to get her into the gifted program because, well, who wants to put their kid in a program where they're really, really not wanted?
Also the school loses funding if they take more than the allotted number of kids, and the notices have already gone out. I think they would have to bump someone in order to accept my daughter. And those kids deserve to be in there too.
    AND I'm betting it's a battle I won't win, so I'll pick a lesser one.

Thanks for the links.... I am desperate for strategies.

It sounds like they're denying her services based on an FSIQ that's uninterpretable. Hopefully Dottie or another expert can provide more insight. If it were my daughter, I'd fight pretty hard because it seems unjust. frown

    Possible strategies:

Write a letter laying out why she should not be denied services based on an uninterpretable FSIQ

Call a private psychologist who specializes in gifted to review the assessment with you and help draft a response

Have a private psychologist who specializes in gifted children to administer the SBV

Contact the district gifted office followed by the state board of education gifted office

Contact a sympathetic school board member

    Address the school board

I know of parents at our school who paid to have private testing done after the schools test, and found that the scores were higher.
Sorry to hear that you are having problems. I wish you lots of luck!
