    Hey,
I just came across some random info on the Math Olympiad (a kid in our area was one of the winners last year) and am wondering about it. I found their website but the info was kind of piecemeal--it seems like you have to take some kind of qualifying test to get into a program, which you then have to attend, and then you may qualify to go further, the ultimate goal being competing in the olympiad testing. But I couldn't get a sense of where the programs were (if any are near us at all), are there online options, what age it might start at, etc. Does anyone know more about this, or where to find more coherent info? Also apparently there's a similar computing olympiad--I had read about a coding competition in Wired that sounded cool, but it was for high school students and the schools seemed to have programs that fed into it. Which I'm sure we don't have here, which is disappointing.

    Dbat,

The kid has to take AMC 12 and qualify to take the Math Olympiad.

    Here's the link.

It may be what you've already found, but there's this page:

I don't think there's much in the way of officially Olympiad-aimed programs except for people who have already done well in the AMC10/12 and AIME contests, but after that there's the MOSP, which is residential, and at which further tests determine (or contribute strongly to determining) the USA team for the IMO.

One possibly-useful source of information about other summer schools etc. might be

    Here's another Math Olympiad.

    http://www.moems.org/contests.htm

This one is Math Olympiads for elementary and middle schoolers.

Actually, the other one held by AMC and Math Counts are more prestigious :-)

Before the AMC series, there are the MOEMS Math Olympiads as well. I think gr 4-5 is elementary division and 6-7 is middle? My son has participated in this for 2 years now.
Each level of schooling has feeder groups of competitions that prepare for higher level olympiads.
