So my DS had his reading reassessment today. I found out from him that he read one book at the 2nd grade level. Just like last time. Why do they not, just for fun, try having him read something more challenging to see what happens?

If my DS is given something simple and uninteresting he will answer appropriately. Whenever given something complex he goes into great detail. I know we don't have the results yet I am just feeling frustrated. I guess we'll just keep doing more interesting reading at home and continue with Stanford EPGY. He just started the Language Arts course and loves it as much as the math, so I guess we've got that for now. I really don't understand public education. And we've only just begun!
