If your child's school uses a computer program for subject acceleration for your child, what do they use and how successful is this program? Also any homeschoolers could let me know what they like as well. My DS's school is looking for a program for him. they don't want to use EPGY or CTY yet...probably because of the fees. But just wanted to know what else is out there and what you all think.

We currently use time4learning as a supplement for what he is, "learning" in K, DS is definitely a big fan. The program is split into lower(k-3) and upper levels (4 - ?), each with different price points. DS is currently working on the lower level material so I cannot vouch for the upper level material but he loves it. When we signed up in the summer there was a few week trial so hopefully you can play around with it at home to get a feel for it. DS uses this mostly for math and science, hopefully someone else can provide feedback on their language arts.
DS is using EPGY math at school (at our expense, through melmichigan's homeshcool "district"). The other "highly capable" students in the class are getting math enrichment with "Larson Math", which I think is also called (or has been bought out by) "iSucceed Math". I don't know much about it, but I think it is designed as much to help remedial students as it is to enrich gifted students. I don't know whether it will actually allow students to accelerate beyond their grade level or not.
I would really love for our district to use EPGY or CTY courses, but they aren't ready for that yet. They are looking at www.learningtoday.com right now. I think they are doing the trial. We will see.
Shelly,

While DS was in school, the district was using Aleks for his math. I requested it, paid for it and they agreed.
DD5 started using Study Island this week. I don't know how it compares to other programs but it's good to see the children have the opportunity to learn something new. Hope DD7 will get to try it at school too.
My school did Study Island last year. This year they are using a program called Compass. http://www.compasslearning.com/

The kids seem to really like the one for this year.:)
FYI, "Compass Learning" is an online curriculum. "Time 4 Learning" is an online class program that uses the Compass Learning curriculum.

Similarly, "Learning Today" is an online class program that uses the "Smart Tutor" online curriculum.
Thanks for the information.:)

thanks, that makes sense. I knew about the learning today but not about how the other 2 were linked. Since my DS's school is only planning to purchase the program for one child the company suggested using the smart tutor program since it is cheaper for just one individual and they stated it was the same exact curriculum.
