Advice please!
My DS is asking about the human genome, and wants a book on it as well as books on dragon genomes. oy! any suggestions? she's 6. she can read anything, but it would be great to get something 'kid friendly'.
thanks in advance!

Hmmm.. an interest of mine, but not of my kids, alas, so I don't have ready suggestions for books.

FWIW, I did a quick google, and without reviewing the sites in detail, here's a couple I would expect to at least have appropriate and reliable info:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/science/edexcel_pre_2011/genes/dnarev3.shtml

http://learn.genetics.utah.edu

http://www.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/tdc02.sci.life.gen.lp_hgpwhat/the-human-genome-project/

http://www.discoveryeducation.com/teachers/free-lesson-plans/the-human-genome-project.cfm

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/body/cracking-the-code-of-life.html (Note - I love Nova, but would pre-screen for a 6-year old!)

As for dragon genomics - oy is right! Perhaps after she tries some parts of the genetics primer, she might consider for herself what would need to go in to creating such a beast? Now there's a genetic engineering project! (this gecko with batwings photo may inspire: http://imgur.com/gallery/tT8lB1s)

Good luck!
