I was just cleaning out my office and found the BOG and EOG reports from the last 2 years for DD10. I was concerned to see that her reading Lexile score was the same for the beginning of 3rd grade (Sept.'13) as it was for the end of this year (May '15) dropping her percentile to 76 from 99. This is the same child who was grade skipped this past Spring because of her above level ITBS scores (and IQ). I just posted about her choosing too easy books on another section of the forum. Connection? She is 2E BTW (ADHD inattentive). She really is never that happy in school so is her unhappiness causing lower test results or could it be her 2E issues are starting to cause problems - how do I figure that one out? I think I remember one parent here saying her daughter's test scores took awhile to bounce back after her grade skip. Still, I wonder why 1 1/2 years go by, and my daughter looks like she has not improved at all in reading.

Is the 76th percentile based on the higher grade she accelerated into? If she had not been accelerated would she still be 99? (or something close?).

Yes, the 76th percentile is for the grade she moved into (5th). If I am reading correctly, that would put her the low 90's for 4th. I just looked at her Lexile score, and it's 1145 (as it was for 3rd grade) for what that's worth. I checked out her science score which was at the 84th percentile.

I thought I would see how this compares to other recent testing so I looked at what she did on the 7th grade level of the ITBS which she took this past February as a 4th grader. She ranged from the 80 - 93% correct on the different science topics. Her written expression scores were all over the place 41%- 80% (punctuation - not her thing!), but she got 80-90% correct on items such as "explicit meaning", "author's craft", "extended reasoning" in Reading.

Do I take this to mean that she is an uneven tester or am I comparing apples to oranges? Pretty standard for 2e kids to test all over the place? It's strange that she tested so well on a test for kids 3 years older (well, I think she did well).

Indigo - I will check out your info in a bit!
