Is the 76th percentile based on the higher grade she accelerated into? If she had not been accelerated would she still be 99? (or something close?).
Yes, the 76th percentile is for the grade she moved into (5th). If I am reading correctly, that would put her the low 90's for 4th. I just looked at her Lexile score, and it's 1145 (as it was for 3rd grade) for what that's worth. I checked out her science score which was at the 84th percentile.
I thought I would see how this compares to other recent testing so I looked at what she did on the 7th grade level of the ITBS which she took this past February as a 4th grader. She ranged from the 80 - 93% correct on the different science topics. Her written expression scores were all over the place 41%- 80% (punctuation - not her thing!), but she got 80-90% correct on items such as "explicit meaning", "author's craft", "extended reasoning" in Reading.
Do I take this to mean that she is an uneven tester or am I comparing apples to oranges? Pretty standard for 2e kids to test all over the place? It's strange that she tested so well on a test for kids 3 years older (well, I think she did well).
Indigo - I will check out your info in a bit!
