My student is in 7th grade and, according to the eligibility chart, meets the criteria for a 12th grader taking the test. (for the online courses, in math and critical reading) So, does that mean that she can take 12th grade courses? Like AP courses, just for fun? She is interested in Psychology AP, but might not take it in high school, so would that be ok? Or do you think it would be difficult to pull off? Any comments on the whole online course thing? Also, please give info on what courses are good.

In looking at their website, it seems that as long as your 7th grader has a qualifying score in reading/verbal and has completed high school biology, he/she is eligible. It says AP Psychology is a grade 9-12 course, so it's not technically only for 12th graders.

We have had an excellent experience with on-line courses, but it may depend on the specifics of the course.

DS8 just started on the Math course for a week , so it's too early to tell how "good" it is for him. He did mentioned that it is better than Aleks (I would think so! for the price difference! LOL) because of the more detailed explanation.

As for which courses your student can take, there are internal placement tests for them. Email CTY for find out more. smile

Has anyone had experience with any of the courses, 5th grade and up? We've examined it further, and maybe we should stick to humanities type courses, maybe "Crafting the Essay", and leave the math courses until later when we have the Algebra prerequisite fulfilled. (she knows most of Algebra, but we don't have the proof, as she did not take it in a formal setting, she just learned it on her own)
