Oops - I thoght I posted this in general discussion. Sorry about that. No wonder I didn't see it after I thought I posted. I thought I had hit delete instead. Oh well, let's make this what we can learn at the Thanksgiving table.

LOL Well, I've already learned that Thanksgiving is no good since somebody here (DS6) doesn't like turkey and cranberry sauce. I think I am done with learning for today

1st thing DD said this morning: "Happy Thanksgiving! But I'm not eating any turkey!" LOL!

We had a pork roast this year. My mom just wasn't in the mood for all the turkey falderall, and none of us cared. It was a great meal! (Albeit untraditional. But meh, we're all rebels.)

Yes, I thought it was pretty smart of my mom, really.

At 10:00 or so, she looked up, feeling like she should be doing something, but having nothing she needed to do, and she said, "Oh, yes, this is normally the time of day when I start panicking that the turkey won't be done soon enough/will eb done way too early. I don't have to do that today."

Go, Mom!

We are currently on day four of our turkey feast. Because of family obligations, on both sides, we decided to cook a full dinner with turkey just for our small threesome on Tuesday. That way, with all of our food allergies, we could take leftovers for DS and me to eat at the family get-togethers. But alas, the problem with starting the celebration so early in the week was that, by then end of Thursday, we had completely cleaned out all of our leftovers, which is a small dilemma for a family who loves spending the weekend scraping the last bits of tasty morsels. So what is a enterprising family to do?

Go back to the store on Friday and buy another turkey!!
This time we got a much bigger bird! Yummmmm!
The turkey is not the only thing stuffed around here.... hee hee!

Oh, and Kriston. We made a pork roast last year (another yum!), and a leg of lamb the year before. Turkey is much better when you haven't had it in a good long while!! But I agree, it is much easier to cook than wrestling with the big bird.

Way to go, ebeth! Love that!

We actually had turkey last week--it was on sale, so I bought one just because. So we didn't miss it...except the soup. It was a busy week and I never got around to making soup. I missed having it, and I may go buy a turkey for this coming week if there are any left. They'll probably be cheap!

We are on day 3 of the turkey. Still going strong--I see turkey enchiladas in our future

We usually work our way down from turkey pot pies to curried turkey after a few days. That's the great thing about Thanksgiving. You may spend several hours in the kitchen on that first day. But then the leftover make for easy lunches and dinners for the next few days.

Oh and we love Turkey soup too, Kriston! What do you usually put in your soup? We tend to go in the turkey and black bean direction. But I'm always looking for new ideas. Besides we have two big Toms to make soup from!!

I tend to go the traditional route: turkey & vegetable with noodles or rice, with broth simmered for hours out of the turkey bones. But you're making me rethink...

We are big tetrazzini eaters around here! Now that DS eats turkey, green peppers and mushrooms, I will probably need to make even more.
