for younger kids.

My daughters are always talking about how they're going to "beat the boys" in math and so my 8 yr old today asked if we could put together a competition.

Have any good ideas of competitive games we could play - boys vs. girls?

Thanks for the ideas. smile

I hadn't thought of the Math Olympiad problems - definitely using some of those.

We're organizing it right now. Should be fun!

Check internet/school/local about Math Kangaroo, Purple Comet, Mathcounts, AMC8, CML. My DS9 goes to local middle school math club.

Haha! Your girls are so cute!
Beestar is very suitable for the competition. Each math worksheet is timed and the ten quick questions are full of all real life word problems, challenging stuff.

You could try out kakooma as well. DS6' math specialist showed it to his enrichment group and the kids all LOVE it. I think the online version is based on multiplication, but I bought the iphone/ipad app at DS' insistence and that is addition based. But it's timed, so it's easy to make it a competition -- it's killing both DS and DH that they can't beat my best time, LOL!
