I need audio/visual resources as this is how DS12learns best - any ideas?

PBS has done a lot of various history miniseries. I'd start on their site.

Google gave me this:
http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3476656
And google gave me this:
http://www.learnerstv.com/Free-History-video-lecture-courses.htm
The videos aren't playing on my phone, so I don't really know if it's real or not, but the list looks impressive.
Don't know what to tell you. You know my babies are just babies still, so the history i've been looking at considering is more those Choose-your-own-adventures-history series.

How about Yale history lectures on Robespierre and French Revolution?

Here's Carnegie Mellon's site on the French Revolution
http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/sc24/frenchrev.html

Educational videos, lessons, and games for K-12 - this is what's on for the FR
http://www.neok12.com/French-Revolution.htm

Another alternative is to search through http://www.livebinders.com/welcome
Type in French Revolution in the search engine; you'll get binders to view on what other high schoolers are doing on it or how teachers are covering it. You can view binders according to topic/subjects or age/grade. You can also create your own.

Another method is to type in French Revolution for kids or free French Revolution videos for kids or using similar key words. You should retrieve some school sites.

There's no need to audio/visual in digital format for us historians/teachers/librarians! Digital is here and is the future.

There are also ton's at iTunes University (iTunes store), best part they are free.

Also "The Great Courses" has been a wonderful World History source for my DS 11. He really enjoys listening to the college profs lectures.

We are enjoying Glencoe World History. It has videos that add to the textbook presentation, available on a CD that also contains the complete content of the textbook and workbooks, plus a complete audiorecording of the text. It's loaded with pictures, maps, cartograms etc. too, and has a supporting website. Total cost for our like-new textbook and new CD was around fifty dollars US.

That is a text that covers from prehistory up through modern times. It does cover the events you mention, but not as in-depth as a more focused volume. I noticed that there's also a "Glencoe World History: Modern Times" that looks good. I don't recall if there's a CD offered for that one, but it's likely.

Raddy,

I noticed the other day that the Khan Academy has expanded quite a bit, and now has a section on History. There are four videos for the French Revolution. My DS11 has not watched any of the History video, but he enjoys watching the math and science videos. They even has a Singapore Math section now.

Thanks for posting this question. It is fun to read the other responses.

I teach world history to 6th grade, and my state has a subscription to Discovery Education (a division of the same company that does the Discovery and History Channels). I use it mostly to download videos to my class, but I also use their site to generate puzzles. Apparently, they also have a subscription for US homeschoolers:
