Hello,
It seems that this a great series and I wanted to ask those who have used it, do you have to do them in the order suggested? Does one lead on from another?
I ask because DS has not done any as yet but is suddenly showing an interest in algebra. Could I start with Pre-algebra and biology or should I stick with the first fractions book? He can do basic fractions but does not seem as excited in this area.
Thank you in advance for your feedback

The stories of the earlier books might actually interest him. You don't have to go in order and IIRC they can all stand on their own pretty well. But for the humor/story alone he may want to read through the earlier ones and skip the Your Turn exercises.

Thanks JB. I just ordered the fractions book and will let you know how it goes.

Aly,

We just started the Life of Fred books with the first one as a "trial," and we ended up buying the whole set because DS8 thought they were so great. He is the kind of kid who likes to read in order and he's reading the "beginning algebra" one now.

I just asked him, and he says he would recommend reading them in order. He says the story is sequential to some extent.

Good to know. Thanks Kate.
Is your son doing the exercises or just the reading?

He's doing the exercises as he goes, I let him write in the book (ooohhh!)

We just got ours and my son was interested in PreAlgebra and Algebra (he is 10) but I told him to read from the first one. Its a great story and really funny so he'll enjoy it even if it's easy stuff.
