I know we did this before. I am looking for additional resources for higher grades. Primarily Ancient History and Middle Ages this year with a focus and the rest of history for next year. Currently I am using Sonlight Core 6 in a secular manner, adding Speilvogel's Journey Across Time to beaf up SOTW. Any ideas?

Will and Ariel Durant's "The Story of Civilization" is a good survey resource.

Volume IV covers the Middle Ages quite well. I really enjoyed reading the whole thing when I was 10-12 years old. They are very fair to all civilizations.

The key event of the Middle Ages in Europe was the seizure of the Templar estates in 1307-1309 and the resulting economic contraction that followed that set the stage for the Great Famine of 1315-1325 where half the population died. Europe very nearly collapsed. Many parts of Europe have never recovered.

Awwwwwwww Austin,

Now I am going to need another three weeks of BA (biblioholics anonymous) to resist the urge to run out and purchase this set.

You can get it quite cheap on Amazon by buying individual volumes - maybe $40-70 total.
