This looks interesting. Anyone tried it? http://www.googlelittrips.org

No, but I'm intrigued by the idea. I'm not familiar with most of the books, though. Are you?

The website is really messing up my computer, too, for some reason. Everything is running really slowly now. Hmmm...

Really neat idea - I can see LOTS of applications for this in my classroom. It ran very slowly on my computer - not sure why, but that would be a problem in a room full of kids (and for my short-of-patience 4-year-old!).

Kriston - I wasn't familiar with a lot of the books either. However, I've read "Into the Wild" (and seen the movie), and it would be neat to do with middle schoolers using this resource.

Hi,
this is Jerome Burg the founder of Google Lit Trips. I thought I'd toss in a response to comments about slowing down your internet.
1. Unless you are using an older version of Internet Explorer, you should see no difference in speed that is caused by the website. The website does use some sophisticated website features, but all modern browsers should handle the site with ease.
2. The website itself is merely a location to download the various Lit Trips. The real experience comes in opening the Lit Trip in Google Earth which is a free application from Google that runs on any platform. It should be noted that the Google Earth application DOES require a lot of bandwidth, so it runs slowly on older machines.
3. The Lit Trips that exist are generally based upon books taught in schools around the world. So, titles sometimes represent what is taught in countries other than the United States.

I'd be more than happy to be of assistance should you have any questions.
I can be reached at:

or

I do appreciate your interest.
