I am wondering if anyone has information or experience with Trevor Tebbs. I have been referred for a "Chandelier" evaluation for my highly complex 2e DD.

His holistic approach to understanding gifted kids certainly sounds interesting but I would love to hear input from folks here before I pursue it.

Here are links to a couple of articles about him and his work:

I do not have experience with Dr. Tebbs, but it appears his methods are essentially conventional and evidence-based with regard to tools. The principal value would be in his commitment to integrating multiple data sources from as many aspects of an individual's existence as accessible, and any clinical expertise he has.

Also, he is selling a data organization and interpretive tool to professionals. I don't hold that against him, though.

Thanks aeh. When I spoke with him he seemed to take an approach that indicated highly verbal kids "choose" not to do what's hard for them so may avoid things like writing. I couldn't get a sense of whether this means he would discount the possibility of true LD's.

Are you familiar with this "chandelier" approach? I can't find much info.

I was not previously familiar with Chandelier, but it appears to be more of a data organizing and storage system than an actual unique evaluative method. It might be a better articulated way of doing what good evaluators do anyway, which is to combine developmental and family history, setting/environmental factors, educational history, social/emotional/behavioral factors, instructional fit, etc. with direct and indirect psychometric data to formulate a learner's profile, in order to generate actionable recommendations.

The plus side of Dr. Tebbs philosophy appears to be that he is strengths-based.
