Hi all,

It is time to have my 11 y/o DS retested. He was last tested by an LD specialist at age 9 and diagnosed with dysgraphia and previously diagnosed with ADHD through neuropsych testing at age 6. Two years ago, his tester advised retesting every couple of years to maintain school accommodations, check his progress and have a solid paper trail for national exam accommodations if/when needed.

This time I would like DS to be tested by a real 2e expert if possible. The neuropsych was not very education savvy and the LD specialist disclaimed any ability to advise on with DS' giftedness. She told me that she rarely saw scores as high as some of his (a very spiky profile, naturally) and had no experience with kids like him.

I suspect that DS has some lurking dyslexia issues that he compensates for adequately with his intelligence. However, he has experienced some decompensation this year with very heavy reading and writing demands. I would like to resolve this issue once and for all through testing. I have heard good things about Johns Hopkins, Dr. Amend-anyone BTDT and can give me pros and cons for expert testers or testing programs?
I used Dawn Kinard here in Dallas (not too far from you). She was a tester for the Gifted Development Center in Denver for a while (and still consults with them). She does specialize in 2e kids. I did not know that I had one until I saw her and we did the testing.
The Eides are wonderful, though I understand that they are so booked at the moment that they've even closed down their waiting list.
