The war on rigour just had another casualty.

Beginning Ancient Greek was cancelled today as a class over at CTY.

My DD12 is absolutely gutted.

A totally immersive environment like CTY to learn this in would have had a lasting positive impact on her.

Does anyone know of any reputable classical learning camps?

This looks encouraging, while not the full immersively social experience that CTY would have offered, it does appear to be an very good option for home study.

We will have to see if it can be squeezed in without undue stress during the school year.

I have always found Greeks to be a friendly bunch of people who given the chance will argue/talk the hind legs off a donkey but I wasn't aware that Ancient Greek was especially popular or studied in those communities.

Certainly the Greek friends that I have who were born in Greece do not have any fluency or (sadly) any interest in it. Having said that, I haven't gone out of my way to learn Anglo-Saxon either so I cannot be too much of a hypocrite there...
