Well, even though this school year just ended yesterday, we're already looking forward to next year. DD7 has been accepted into the fulltime gt program at the local elementary school for next year. smile

We had our "official" meeting to get all the forms signed yesterday and we left with a good feeling. She will be in a combined grade 3/4 classroom. There are about 20 kids in the class, mostly grade 3, but I think a few gr 4. The teacher has been teaching the class for 3 years and seems to know what she is doing. We've talked to her already about DD and asked lots of questions and we got some encouraging responses.

They admitted that while they have written her EP for the full 3 years of the program (grades 3,4 and 5) they know that it will probably need to be revised long before that time. They acknowledged that DD will be a challenge to keep up with, but indicated their willingness and eagerness to do whatever they need to do to provide her with what she needs.

There are 2 gt classes at the school - one grade 3/4 the other grade 4/5. They grade 4s are split based on math ability - the "mathies" go to the 4/5 class after grade 3 and the others stay where they are. They already said that DD would be moving to the 4/5 class after next year.

They said they would pretest for all of the grade 3 benchmarks since we all think that she has already passed tham all. And compact any that she is missing.

So, we are optimistic that we may have finally found a place for her. grin
