Has anyone ever got their AP scores before they are "officially" released?

If you sent them to a college that you will attend, you might see them a few days ahead of the official release through your college portal.

If you are in a state with a "late" access date (scores are accessible by region over five days or so), "I have heard" that you can use a proxy server to view your scores on the first day of access, which is July 5th.

Of course, it usually doesn't matter - the scores are what they are and you'll see them soon enough. Middle kid did want to know ASAP last year because she had a summer meeting with her college advisor for class scheduling right around the release date, and AP scores did impact the classes she took.

More curious than anything. daughter is going to be a sophomore in high school. It was her first one. Though a 3 is accepted at some schools other it is not.

Different schools and different programs use the scores differently. Some for credit, some for placement. At DS' college (incoming freshman) scores are used differently in different departments/schools. For his major, score is used only for placement.

Yes you can get scores before they are officially released. For some reason the scores aren't all released in the same area's. I have heard of people using VPN's to log in and get their scores.

Additionally because they scores are released slowly all week. But schools are on a different schedule. They might update and let you know earlier. I'm kind-of hoping that's true here because in CA they won't be officially released until July 9th. But his schools may get it on July 6th and I might see them in one of their portals earlier. (We will see..)

As NotherBen said.. It totally depends on university what the AP's count for what. For example at Cal Tech... you get no credit nor placement for any AP's. But if you hadn't taken any it's extremely unlikely you would get in. On the other end of the spectrum less prestigious state schools often give credit for anything over a 3. And anything in between.

When looking at universities this is something to check. And it's a good think to look at before deciding which AP tests to take senior year.

My son will get credit for Calculus & Physics. Placement of AP CS.. (and a tiny amount of credit) One of AP Bio or Physics will get him out of his Gen Ed science requirement. Doesn't really help that much.

In Illinois its law that state schools have to give credit for a 3. It was signed by the governor. On the other hand a non state school like Northwestern gives credit for generally just 5's.
