Came across this via another group. Not clear how rigorous the research behind this article is, but it's an accessible read that rings true with my experience and observations.
The Gifted Brain
From what I can tell, the citations are largely legit.
Thanks for the post. Enjoyed the read
Lots of smoke but no fire is my initial thought on the paper.
Thanks aeh.
madeinuk, I wouldn't say that I learned much from the paper but I liked how it was written at an accessible level: I could imagine handing it to teachers saying a "here's a way to frame how you think about gifted children". The first portion in particular gives a nice overview before providing a simple examination of how this might be reflected in physiology. We are constantly looking for articles that simply but clearly and accurately help educators understand DS's complex medical condition, and this struck me as analogous to those resources.
Will it be published in Nature or Science? ... no, but it might be useful.
Interesting. I like how the different profiles raise awareness of the different ways giftedness presents itself. I learned a few things.
I stumbled across a reference to this article in another thread on another forum. Other things have occupied my attention over the past several years, so I'm definitely not up on any G&T focused research. How does this research organization/group hold up in your opinions?
The collection of articles in the online library at GRO Gifted (Gifted Research & Outreach) is interesting, with some authors being well-known names in the area of gifted:
