Hi - I'm still sorting through my thoughts on this, so pls. forgive me if it's a little confused...
My 7th grader has been in the JHU-CTY program for the last 2 years. She's gifted, though I don't know *how* gifted. We've never had her take an IQ test. She took the ACT this winter and qualified for Davidson with those scores (though only by a small margin), and I want to give her access to things that might help her, but I just don't know if it's worth the bother and $$ for the IQ test (also, she's 12, and I think I read scores aren't as accurate after age 9?).
We homeschool, so I already adjust according to her needs. I guess the main reason we'd pursue it would be possible friendships with other gifted kids and access to college courses or other resources. The CTY course she took was really expensive, so cheaper options would be helpful, lol!
Anyway, can anyone here give an opinion on whether we should pursue this or not? TIA!

I would say - yes! Give it a whirl. At age 12 she has 6 years to play before she would age out of YSP. Also - there are sides of my son that I never expected that I only see when he gets together with other HG and PG kids. That's worth a bit of hassle.

Enjoy,
Grinity
