I looked at my dd's WJ-III test results yesterday when replying to somebody else's thread and something caught my eye.

I had not noticed that her total achievement is the lowest of all her composite scores.

Broad reading was 157 (scores range 153-159)
Broad Math was 144 (128-154 range)
Broad Written Language 149 (135-148)

Total achievement is 142. So while her reading/math are in the >99.9 and her math is 99.8, the broad ends up being 99.8 as well.

I have no concerns, just curiosity as to how the composite is calculated. It seems odd that it would be the lowest....

I finally understood that the full scale IQ can be higher than its parts because of the rarity of 2 or 3 high scores....

Is it not the case with achievement?

She was 6 years 7 months when she took it, just as she started 1st grade.

Yes, thanks.. it is weird because it is lower even than her lowest; but it really does not matter. Funny I had not noticed before...

Wow! That is a BIG difference!

It just doesn't make any sense that it would be lower. Wonder if it can be a mistake or just a weird design issue.

Thanks again, that seems like a big glitch.

Is this for every age. Using it for my duaghter for early entry testing, how perfect does she need to be with this scoring glitch to get 98%.
