My youngest daughter and I had a meeting with the school principal today. I thought DD was going to talk about how her lack of friends has resulted in school refusal but what came out was completely different!!! She spoke to eloquently and articulately about how she internalises every fight/squabble/power-play and nuance in the playground and how this continues to affect her throughout the whole day *sigh* I thought going to a new school would "solve" some of the playground issues she's experiencing, but now I realise that the elephant in the room is actually a big fat hairy mammoth and that this type of generalised free floating anxiety is going to follow her to the next school and the next and the next.

Is it too early for chocolate?

It's never too early for chocolate.
I'm with aculady.

My DD is affected by other kids' stuff, too. There's a boy in her class who is being bullied a little, as she tells it, and it's really bothering her. I've debated going to the teacher.
