My 6 y/o son LOVES to play video games,and his favorite is Pokemon. However, I would like for him to play games that have at least SOME educational value. He has a Nintendo DS and a Wii. He already has Learn Math, Learn Chess, and Math Blaster. Are there any other good educational games for these platforms?

You have to solve various scenarios by writing in the names of objects. You can input nearly any word you can think of. Some of the puzzles really stumped me, but of course DS7 figured them out!

I haven't seen another game like it.

SUPER scribblenauts we ALL love to play, even DH and I...the super version adds adjectives and some verbs I think beyond the nouns required in the first one...I also reccomend the SUper Scribblenauts guide book (sold seperately) for when you are all stumped

Butter is 8 and also enjoys Nintendogs...that might not seem educational, but it has improved her patience and concentration, I think...there's also Brain Age (suitable for anyone) and Big Brain Academy...

Do you know you can get some games through Scholastic?

My DD6 loves "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" on her DS.

I'd also take advantage of some of the more physical games on the Wii, like the Just Dance series. It teaches coordination and rhythm, so there's learning to be had there, and is a fair workout besides.

We has been using beestar. It's an educational site, including all the syllabus. My child loves and supports it. She rather do 9 hours of beestar than watch 1 minute of t.v. I think it is a well-and easy used program. Since the 10-question worksheets are timed, she does the exercises as play games, tring her best to do as quick and correct as possible.
