For those of you that participate, I'd like to pick your brains!

I've agreed to organize this next year at my kids school but I need an idea of how many volunteers I need to help and how much time realistically the kids participation should be. According to what I've read so far some schools have the kids practice twice a wk, some only once.

Anything you can tell me would be helpful!

We did Math Olympiad for the first time this year. We met twice a week for an hour each meeting. We had two adults for about 12 students. The adults had to work fairly intensely with the students because it is difficult problem solving. For our students it was the first time most of them had ever been challenged academically. They were a little discouraged at first, but eventually came to enjoy the challenge. Several students have told me recently that they miss having math club.

Also, we required a teacher recommendation to participate. Students need to be strong in math.

Thanks Summer,

That's just the sort of information I need. I have another parent (the local math tutor) that is willing to help but I didn't know if he and I were enough! I would suspect that our participation wouldn't be extremely high as the entire population at the school is only about 300.
