Has anyone read Nicholas Kristof's column in today's New York Times? He wrote about IQ and even made a statement containing advice "for transforming your own urchins into geniuses."

Most of the column is dedicated to raising IQ through intervention programs, but he offered very little support for his assertions and glossed over decreases in IQ gains.

Here it is: Kristof column

His statement that IQ leads to more success in life is I think rubbish! In fact, I think it was just published elsewhere not so long ago that IQ has little to do with how successful in career/or life you are.

I'd be more interested in readaing the UOfVA Professor's book than judging what the newspaper article says about the book mind.

I read it.

The main things holding most kids back is the atrocious condition of many schools ( and the lack of empowerment parents have in redressing the issues ) AND the awful job some parents do in raising their kids. When these are combined together its a long hole to climb out of.

It makes perfect sense that a child who has been exposed to educational material and a hands on parent would score a little higher. But exposure alone doesn't make the kind of kids we're talking about here.

Said the tour guide at IQ international....
"Don't forget your googles, the radiation exposure will hurt your eyes while expanding your brain cells"
