I'm writing to share the news with you of a new private school that's recently opened up in the Bay Area providing gifted education. The full name is "Tessellations, the Beneventi School," named after Anne Beneventi, a nationally recognized expert in the field of giftedness. We were founded with the mission to "provide challenging, experiential education that recognizes and nurtures the individual strengths of gifted learners, empowering them to confidently express who they are and pursue a meaningful life."

Tessellations takes a progressive approach to gifted education. We've really loved the engaging, project based curriculum, individualized for each students needs, the low student teacher ratio, and the amazingly supportive sense of community. Tessellations is opening up in-person this fall in Cupertino, CA with openings for all grades K-8.

We already have some great DYS families in our community!
Please see our website for more info: http://tessellations.school/

The website shows that an Open House for Tessellations is coming up soon: Thursday March 4, 2021!

When I think of tessellations, I think of:
1) the work of artist MC Escher
2) geometry

Is the school named for the concept that tessellations have perfect fit... no gaps, no overlaps?
I’m interested in doing the interview for kids to see if they think I’m gifted, but probably not possible. My parents made a ton of poor decisions regarding my schooling and house environment and here I am being so depressed.
HighIQ - I don't want to risk veering off-topic or hijacking a thread for the Tessellations gifted school...
IMO, many more communities need and would benefit from having a gifted school available, locally!

That said, a gifted school's admissions interview would undoubtedly be tailored to a prospective pupil's age. In other words, a response which would be typical for young adult age, may be unusual for a child... thereby indicating the child is advanced (high achiever, gifted learner, or creative thinker) and/or had more opportunity for exposure to various topics.

Although some families may have multi-generational history in recognizing, accepting, and nurturing giftedness... many families do not, therefore parents inexperienced in gifted differences have often been caught off-guard and unaware. The book, "A Parent's Guide to Gifted Children" (James T. Webb, et al) was published in 2007, and only in recent years, as the internet became accessible to more people, and search engine strength increased, did more parents become aware of support for gifted children... via SENG, Hoagies Gifted Education Page, Davidson Institute, and the blossoming network of schools, camps, and even specialists well-versed in giftedness throughout the lifespan.

Here's a thread which may be of interest to you, HighIQ, and also of interest to today's parents, who may be considering enrolling their children in a gifted school such as Tessellations - Gifted adults-what did your parents do right/wrong, 2012.
