I'm sure this has been discussed here before but I haven't been able to find it.

What video games actually help children's giftedness grow?

My 7 year old son has loved playing MineCraft on the XBox 360 ever since I bought it for him (although he says he wished he had it on the computer because it offers many more options...unfortunately I'm not sure if his 5 year old computer could handle it). I played with him again today and he was showing me all these items you could do that would take me 10 years to learn grin

A book on raising gifted kids also recommended games like Big Brain Academy and Brain Age for the DS...so I splurged and spent $7 total on both those games for him.

So, any other games you feel that gifted children benefit from?

Thanks for any input.

If you have a DS then the Professor Layton series are a favourite here and my DD first started with those at age 7. She is redoing them right now at 13. There are puzzles to solve as you work through the mystery story. We had Brain Academy and Brain Age too

I am not sure if they grow Giftedness but they keep the mind engaged and encourage lateral thinking.
