I had seen this lecturer talk about how kids are starting early, with make up and skimpy clothes and that as result, drinking and drugs are starting earlier too.

Yesterday, the neighbor's daughter showed me her nails. She had tips done at a salon. She is in 5th grade. Now I am a regular for manicures and pedicures but I am not taking DD until she is in high school, at least. And not tips for sure. She was texting on her phone with these nails.

DD was in space camp last week -- modified day camp, this week was rainforest camp. She is only 3. She got a special note from a boy (most of the kids were 5) and last evening we saw another boy from the class at a beach concert. Came to DD right away, they were dancing together. And he wanted to see the fireworks with her but they were in a different area, so it wasn't going to happen. We mothers were gently telling them that we would meet up on the beach some afternoon. The boy insisted that he had to see the fireworks with DD and took her hand and started running down the boardwalk with her. DD of course thought this was a great idea.

I am chasing my 3 year old who is running off with a boy....

LOL!!!!!

I'm not sure how much of this stuff we can influence and how much is beyond our control.

DD6 prefers teenagers over her age group. A lot of times they put up with her because she is hilarious which just makes matters worse.

The other day she asked a 16yo boy: "So, do you have anyone special in your life?"!!!!

When you figure out how to slow them down, let me know!
Please!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad I have a boy. (At least, i'm hoping he won't want his nails done!)

We can control whether we'll pay for something for our child, but the attitudes are a little bit more difficult to control, i fear.
