DD6 is in Kindergarten. Our district does literacy and math testing each quarter. Only the literacy testing goes above grade level. The results show how the student compares to others in their grade DISTRICT wide. Is it wrong to want to know how DD is performing compared to her peers in her school (it's a high achieving school in the district)? What is the best way to request this information? We already know she is not at the bottom or extreme top in the flex groups. We just want to make sure she is progressing to her ability and we are properly working on her needs/skills so while she is advanced, she is not actually behind the rest of her peers.

What state are you in? In Texas, that sort of thing is reported by the TEA (Texas Education Association) each year. Basically, it's public information. I'm not sure if that's the case in every state, however.

IL. It's a district progress report (not statewide testing) for letter sound fluency and highly decodable text. I understand that results are used in determining flex groups. Trying not to be the helicopter parent, but really want to know how DD doing as compared to her peers.

Check district website. They may have accountability report.

But usually, there is no state wide testing for elementary school until 2nd grade.

Or make an appointment with the teacher and ask her opinion.
