Help me forum. My DD7 is profoundly gifted. In the process of applying to Davidson as we speak. I have tried to find ANY school that would be willing to accelerate her at all, let alone the acceleration she really needs. Every single place tells me they just don't do it, or else that they know what is best for my daughter and they think it is best not to accelerate her. She is suffering. I am suffering. It kills me because if she had an illness or disability I would do the same thing in the way of advocacy for her and that would be considered being a good parent, but this is different. I even called the VA Association for Gifted and they told me they couldn't help. I can't homeschool because I am the breadwinner and my husband is foreign. I am supplementing as much as I can, but am at a loss. Any suggestions?

We had looked into an online "virtual school." There are a few of them, and in our state, they are considered a public school, so very cost-effective.

I've heard mixed reports about how well acceleration works out in this environment, but it's something to look into.

Could your husband homeschool for math/science? Maybe there's a co-op or tutor who could do language arts/reading/social studies.

Yes, I too considered online education. I was just hoping for that human interaction. It may be an option if we must.
Thanks
