We're meeting with the school soon about some conduct issues with DS7 (MG/HG). We know he sometimes has issues with staying on task, and we even had him screened (not through all the testing rigors) by a psychologist to see if she thought ADD was likely. DS also has trouble not getting silly in a lot of settings, like sports team practices. I expect we'll hear about him being silly at the wrong times at our school meeting, too.

The psychologist mentioned to us that his issues with conduct might be more about asynchonronous development of our GT kid rather than something like ADD. Does anyone have any good written resources about asynchronous development in GT kids I could reference for our meeting?
This might be a good start: http://www.nagc.org/index.aspx?id=1211

I will dig a little deeper and see what else I can find.
(For book: The Social and Emotional Development of Gifted Children: What Do We Know?. The link gives you great info about the papers included in the book.)

http://www.lanc.uk.com/MisdiagnosisandDualDiagnosesofGiftedChildren.pdf This is an article that has been expanded into a well know book that you might want to obtain.

http://digitalcommons.uconn.edu/dissertations/AAI3034004/ "The social and emotional adjustment of gifted children who experience asynchronous development and unique educational needs"

The above are links from a more scholarly area, but you can just google aynchronous development and find information from a lot of well respected sites. Hope that helps!

Thanks, Katelyn's Mom!

I will be googling it, too. Just thought I might get some of the more pointed articles by asking here. And, thanks to you, I did!

No problem! I hope your meeting goes well.
