I called the local middle school to see if my just turned DD10's dual enrollment will carry over and if there are any other classes that might interest her. She is really getting disgusted with her current LA class and isn't really interested in her two electives anymore. So I'm trying to figure out if I should even be looking at the middle school or just make the complete move to all subjects homeschooled like her sisters, and as she is begging me daily.

Their answer. They set up a meeting and will have to discuss with the building prinicipal and the assistant superintendent if anything will be available to her for next year and if they will let her take any above grade level classes that are available in the building. I did explain that we were given the option of skipping her to sixth for this year and didn't to get her more speech therapy. I am really questioning this whole asperger's diagnosis again today. It seems to depend on the day. I'm wondering if it's just her personality and GT. I had the same problems/symptoms at her age. smile I am just so ready to throw in the towel...

Is she doing LA through EPGY as well?

No, she is just using the math right now. She is currently, in her words, "wasting two whole hours a day on english" in the public school. She has an IEP for speech and language and ELA at the public school.

I haven't heard much from parents who are using the EPGY LAW, thoughts?

My DD10 is doing the LAW. (Thanks for EPGY, again!)

It's very mechanical and grammatical. DD started at grade 4.5 on 10/21 and is already to grade 5.5 so it goes fast. It seems a little "light" to me, but it covers a lot more than her ELA class at school. (They are choosing between "a" and "an" at school.) There is not a literature component to LAW and figures of speech, etc. don't come up until grade 6.

DD likes it (it always tells her "you're right!") and it's filling the ELA void for now. We do the literature component through our own little "family book club."

Oh, we do literature with the Sonlight Core 6 material I am using for history. She is loving it and it has been easy enough for me to do secularly. She is a very avid reader and has finally discovered fiction. She doesn't even realize that it is doing Lit. twice. wink
