My 20 month old is starting to recognize letters, and I suspect that he's either gifted or is at least going to be ahead of his peers.
And my first thought was, "Oh no, not again."
Not irrational at all!
I recall
James Webb, PhD,
author of many books on giftedness,
founder of SENG and Great Potential Press, describing gifted kids as having an "
intense" experience and parents of gifted children and having an "
exhausting" experience.
Thinking of how early parents may notice signs of giftedness (and departure from what is typical) brought to mind this
famous literary quote.
Intense and exhausting is right. I remember the psychologist who did DD's assessment coming out after the WISC and jokingly saying something to the effect of, "You all are in for a ride."
