I just wanted to say hello and to introduce myself and my daughter. My name is Tammy and I found this site about a month or so ago while looking for information regarding gifted children. My daughter Lauren is 5.5yrs old. I could write a book about all the things she's said and done in her short 5 years on earth but this post would be insanely long! We believe that Lauren is highly gifted and in every article and website that we've found that has a checklist for identifying gifted children, we check nearly every box. We are currently applying for the Young Scholars program and more than anything right now I'd just love to talk with other parents who have kids like Lauren! Hello back! It just seems very sad to say hello to a large group and then have no responses! I am not on this site very often, or I would have said hello earlier!

I have 2 highly gifted daughters, 12 and 8, and agree with you, they are so much fun to raise! The things they say and the things they do! Like most on this list, I always assumed that the baby books were very PC and so they overcompensated when they said when a baby could or would do what. Mine were always months ahead in every category!

On the subject of writing the book - I advice that you do just that. You will be amazed how much you forget as they get older.
