You guys have been providing advice wink for 2 years (thank you) so I wanted to come back and celebrate the success.

DS (7yo) 2nd grader will be walking next door to do 3rd grade math this year. Also, that 3rd grade class has students working in class at a 4th grade level, so I imagine he will be joining that crew once the teacher figures out his level.

Whew!

Also, we have a much better school AIG teacher (hooray) to help coordinate than the one that caused so much frustration in K and the Principal seems very positive about subject acceleration now because a kid one year older than my son pushed for it and it worked out well. Situation feels so positive now. Very relieved!

AoPS has been the best thing we did in the meantime to keep DS happy and engaged. He wants to continue 4th grade beast academy this year too.
Thank you for sharing! smile It's great to hear positive news.

Kudos to the family who came before you and advocated for their child's single subject acceleration in math... paving the way. Get to know them if you can... they may have some tips and insights to share. Plus... that could be the start of a local gifted community.

Wishing all the best for both families.
Yay! Sounds like he may have some peers in the school community.
