We are looking at purchasing this to use with DS' private school. I'm on the Great Potential Press site and trying to figure out whether I need the complete kit or just the manual w/one set of forms. There's a $40 price difference. Does anyone know? I can't quite figure out the differences.

You can do the calculations with just the manual. It has the forms in it (but they're filled in as examples). So if you want to fill in forms for the school, I'm guessing that the manual and a set of forms are all you need.
The manual is re-usable and one set of forms is good for one child. The complete kit comes with 10 sets of forms.

There are two types of forms:
- evaluation forms
- summary and planning records.

Altogether, the IAS as three parts: manual, evaluation form(s), summary and planning record(s).

I believe the forms are sold separately as a replacement when the first 10 are used.
What are the summary and planning forms?

Thank you!!
It's there in the description, it just doesn't stand out... I've highlighted it below:

Yes - thank you. I meant, has anyone used them/what are they used for (as opposed to the 10 forms).
Sure... the summary and planning record form is a 4-page booklet for recording the date, results, and sign-offs...

Used for documenting the process and to outline next steps...
recommendations (whole-grade acceleration or other plans), timelines, transitioning plans, progress monitoring, etc
Ok, so something we can likely skip given the size of the school, then. Thanks again.

Sorry it took so long to look up... I will verify what Kai said...

Chapter 4 of the manual contains samples of the completed forms (both the evaluation forms AND the summary/planning record forms).

Yes, this makes it possible to use the manual as a guide, without the forms, in an informal situation where there is not an anticipated need for ongoing referral to formal documentation.
Just jot your answers on a blank sheet of paper.
