I didn't even look at the book because DC brought it home from the school library and I saw the previews for the movie and wanted to see it because it looked "cute" from the movie characters!

We are past the sensitive stage, as D is 15, but she has a massive collection of stuffed owls (one of her passions -- something north of 60 total right now). And she liked the books when she was younger. We already have plans for a movie night with all of them in our living room once it is out on DVD -- many groups of stuffed owls sharing bowls of popcorn smile

Another great place to check books (and movies)is:

    http://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/

If you scroll down below the age recommendation, there will be specific ratings (with accompanying specifics) for several elements that may be of concern. I've found the specifics helpful because general reviews are hard to gauge unless you know the reviewer and their definition of age appropriate.

Oh that's a great site too! I think it's a little more ahead than the last site in the fact that it has more books (at least the ones I have looked at. I couldn't find some on the other site but between the two, great sources!) THX!
