I see there are 10 registered users online right now, one who is invisible.
    Cool.
How do I become invisible, I think it should be quite handy.
Is this invisible status availiable to morph from online use to offline.

If you feel like someone is watching you, beware! It might be an invisible Incogneato...acting incognito!

wow--sometimes I'm logged on for days, but it doesn't mean I'm at my computer...maybe folding laundry, or grocery shopping.

LOL - I remember 'coming out' to one of my IRL friends about being a gifted person, soon after DS11 had kicked me out of the closet.

Her response was, "well of course you are, dear!"

And here I had thought that I hid it so well!

    Apparently not!

So yes do come out, dears!

Ok, I tried to post a few minutes ago and it didn't go through. I'll try again. I think I may be invisible, at least some of the time. I happened to click on details on the left side thinking it would be details about my posts. Instead, it shows who's online and exactly what thread they are reading. Too Big Brother for me! Sorry if it made you uncomfortable. I still can post under my screen name.

I like the feature because I have started to grow quite fond of my new "e-friends".
FWIW when I log in and see, for example, kcab is online, I say whooppeeeeeeee!!!!!

I feel the same way, kcab & incog. I like knowing there's more on the way soon! laugh

I agree that the "who's reading what" is a wee bit Orwellian though.

Shall we time one another's reading speed with it?

I have a habit of getting distracted by real life and wandering away from my computer. It probably looks like I have turned to stone staring at my screen!

Ha! It's me too. But I blame incogneato. I never thought about making myself "invisible" until (s)he posted this.

I'll come out of the closet! And I probably look like I stare at my computer all day with Lorel

    Kriston,
I hear what your saying, but for example, the "How did you find us" thread has 105,000 and some odd views. Only 39 replies. Who are these 105,000 people and why don't they put in their 2 cents.

Dottie, I'm with you sister, it slightly freaks me out as well.

I'll grant you, 105,000 is a lot of views. But those views include every time *anyone* has looked at it. So if I post once but read the comments 4 more times that day to see what others said, that's 5 views for just me.

That's still a lot of anonymous viewings, but it should hopefully make you only 20% as freaked out as you were. wink

Now, I'm worried that I am creeping people out. I often hit check who's online details when I'm trying to decide whether to leave the computer and go do something useful, but sense there might be a great post on the way. I'll look to see if someone looks like they are writing something. If it's pretty quiet, I leave, but forget to close the page. I just realized that on that screen, my browser refreshes every minute. So it looks like I'm checking in on everyone every minute (and that would seem creepy). But I'm actually off buying groceries or doing laundry or even at work for 10 hours (with my browser refreshing every minute!) Yikes, I'm sure I look like a stalker! Sorry!

I wish I had a clock like Mrs. Weasley's from Harry Potter, that had hands that said who was where.
I leave the page open, but I'm usually not infront of the computer.
I try to be done by 9:30 pm EST, but feel that I'm missing the best parts! Sleep must come first. BTW, I'll be traveling, and AWK (away from keyboard) from Christmas until New Years. ((shake))

OT note: When I taught school, I wrote AWK in the margin to denote an awkward bit of phrasing.

I don't think that suits Grinity! She's never AWK! smile

Dottie - someone's going to have to step up to the plate while Grinity's on the road. I think you're an excellent candidate! We don't want the board to come to a screeching halt. Go Dottie Go!

Just wanted to say happy holidays and thank you to everyone posting here. I've learned a lot in a few short weeks, and have been on the boards all too often. I'd better get some work done, but it's fascinating reading. And, reassuring. I had no clue that our DS' intensity and sensitivity, remembered slights by peers, intense worry about all sorts of risks, could all be "normal" in a certain group of kids. Where we are, things are so different. I never hear about parents trying to accelerate their kids - they try to "red-shirt" them instead - giving them a practice year of preschool before they start preschool, and then holding them back from kindergarten until 6. (I think this is more to make the soccer team than the honor roll.) I am so jealous of all of you who were able to identify and individualize things for your children at a young age.

Thanks for sharing, and all the best in the New Year,

If a Question is invisible on a forum, can anyone hear it being asked?

    wink

All the best for the coming new year!
