DD7's Halloween costume order came in the mail today and she'll be the Statue of Liberty. She's reading up so she can to be in character. She learned the statue is made of copper 3/32in.thick, the same as two pennies put together. DD5 will be her favorite animal...a pig. What are your children planning to be for Halloween?

Great costumes, inky! What fun your girls will have!

The lads are still dithering, but pondering being a "picnic pack" (bottle of mustard, bottle of ketchup, bottle of relish); I need a commitment soon, so I can fire up the sewing machine!

We have a impending problem with "October thirty-oneth", which is that DS2 is adamant his costume be an apatosaurus, and not one of the many other dinosaur species that actually comes in 2T. If anyone knows of an apatosaurus/brontosaurus costume out there please let me know.

DD8 is going to be an ancient Egyptian and DS3 will be the solar system. I'm making him a cape with a yellow hood for the sun and sewing glow-in-the-dark planets in orbits around the cape.

love the ideas! My DS6 is determined to be a Manatee. The Manatee is his passion right now and he is basing his science fair project around building a device for the common boater to alert them to manatees in the water. But of course, there are no such things as manatee costumes....so I am sewing one...we have an F-18 fighter pilot "back up" costume just in case the sewing project turns into a messy gray bundle of fabric :-)

    Great post - very fun.

Our budget is tight and we don't buy Halloween costumes any more. This is actually worked out very well. They can just go into the dress up box and get what ever they want.

My son9 will be a spy again. He wears all black and a vest with lots of pockets. He puts on as many spy gadgets as he can manage.

My daughter will probably be a pink cow girl, a princess and a bat.

We usually do a few events- trick or treat, school dress up and library party.

    PS.
After Halloween, Our Target usually has costumes marked down to 90%.
My daughter pink cowgirl costume was bought for $2 and given to her at Cristmas.

DD4(in 9 days) has been wanting to be a pumpkin for the past 2 years. So maybe this year will be the year! LOL. DS5.5 wants to be "any Star Wars character that uses a blue lightsaber" - he has a blue one, but hasn't decided WHICH character he wants to be. I was really hoping DD wanted to be Princess Leia b/c I could easily make the buns with her hair.

DD 2.5 wants to be an orthopedic surgeon....both for halloween and when she grows up. We got the best costume for her and she loves it!

Maybe you can modify a dragon costume?

Not sure what Lucas is going to be yet, we do have a pumpkin costume hanging around.

    Halloween is my favorite holiday!!!

Wolf is going to be Annikin Skywalker (hooray for already having pants and gloves that will work as well as the light saber). I'm making everything else out of felt because I don't feel too full of initiative this year.

Bear WAS going to wear his brother's old skeleton costume (my idea, see above comment about lack of initiative, lol). However he caught wind of my plot and has decided that he wants to be a T-Rex kitty cat.... really... So I have his dragon costume from last year that I made for his brother several years back and I think I'm going to de-wing that let out the hems and add kitty ears made of felt. Can't wait to see what people make of that...
